The Story
Engineering labs to boardroom governance
The humans are the hardest part of AI. I learned this in Nokia's engineering labs, watching intelligent systems fail because the organisations weren't ready, even when the technology worked. That insight followed me through Samsung's innovation corridors, American Express's global transformation, and eventually to the AI frontier in Abu Dhabi with G42 and Presight.
At every organisation, the pattern repeated: promising pilots stalled on politics, fear, and the organisational inertia that turns ambitious roadmaps into forgotten experiments. The gap between AI ambition and AI execution isn't a technology problem. It's a people and governance problem.
That is the problem I have spent fifteen years working to solve: at Nokia, Samsung, American Express, and G42 / Presight, shaping AI strategy at national scale. Today I do that work independently, as founder of AI Exponent LLC. Organizations that get this right build transformation that lastsafter the consultants leave.
